My fashion sense is not exactly labeled in one category, sometimes I can be preppy and at other time’s I can be more in the goth genre. It honestly depends on my mood, the weather and what is going on for me that day.
I also really appreciate when something looks and feels good. It is important to dress for you body type.
So much of my clothing inspiration comes from what I see and what is around me. A large part of that is television! The shows I watch are across the board, but if I like a specific outfit from a character i’ll put my own twist on it!
Haley Dunphy is a character who I adore, and has a fashion sense that is crazy amazing. She is currently working for a fashion designer (on the show) so it makes sense. Her look is so boho, always pairing a cute tank with long necklaces and statement earrings. She is also a huge fan of the over sized sweater which is so perfect for the fall weather.
Zoe Johnson is my favourite part of Blackish (and if you don’t watch it you seriously need to start.) She is hilariously witty, and has a fashion sense that matches that. She has a preppy style with an edge, and she adores mixing patters. She really inspires me to take a chance and mix and match colours and patterns because it works so well for her.
Olivia Pope the ultimate kick ass heroine. Not only does she inspire me to be an *independent woman* she has also taught me how to play with my neutrals. There is nothing wrong with wearing grey on grey, as she has proven. As well as putting on a statement jacket to make an outfit, and if all else fails always have your basic blue jeans!
Countess Elizabeth played by the insanely talented Lady Gaga, gives me so much delight to watch. Her clothing is as outgoing as her character, long beautiful dresses, bright neon colours matched with glitzy jewels. This would be my ideal going out outfits, if I lived in a place where I could get away with it! But honestly, I am so inspired by the big jewels. I love wearing my large necklaces and the Countess reminded me how much fun it is!
Laurel Castillo on How to Get Away With Murder is the perfect example of school girl mixed with badass. Other then the fact that she got away with murder, her wardrobe is so awesome! Pairing sweaters over blouses, she always puts her own spin on things whether it is a bright coloured bottom (normally a skirt), or a funky necklace. Just because you’re dressing for work, doesn’t mean you need to be boring!
